Executive MPH

The Executive MPH Program was established in 1990 to provide working health professionals with the skills, networks, and credentials needed to obtain high-level management or policy positions. The program has been an overwhelming success, attracting over 600 participants from hospitals, health departments, managed care organizations, consulting firms, law firms, pharmaceutical companies, and other healthcare settings.

Participants attend classes for one long weekend (Thursday to Sunday) each month for a period of 24 months. The curriculum provides an overview of the political, legal, and economic forces that shape healthcare systems, an introduction to the core principles of public health, and a hands-on immersion into the principles and the practices of effective management.

The faculty, which includes full-time professors from the Mailman School of Public Health along with senior practitioners, is especially adept at relating classroom theory to the realities of the workplace. In addition, the program provides career planning and career placement services to assist students in their efforts to change jobs or to advance within their current organizations.
