Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality at the United States Department of Health and Human Services offers a number of grants and fellowships for research aimed at promoting improvements in clinical and health system practices.

Air Force Association—Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship

The Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship to an active duty Air Force, full-time Air National Guard, or full-time Air Force Reserve (officer or enlisted) student pursuing a Master's Degree in a non-technical field of study.

American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) Fellowship Program

Elligible applicants to the AIGC Fellowship must be pursuing a master's, doctoral or professional degree full-time at an accredited graduate school in the United States; be able to demonstrate financial need and; be an enrolled member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group or are at least one quarter Indian blood. ASSOCIATION OF AMERICAN INDIAN AFFAIRS (AAIA) SCHOLARSHIPS

All scholarships are for students who are from federally recognized tribes and who are at least one quarter Indian blood unless otherwise stated.

THE CORY L. RICHARDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship supports emerging leaders in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights. The scholarship honors the legacy of Cory Richards, a member of the Guttmacher Institute staff for nearly four decades, whose passion for mentorship and commitment to leadership development benefited countless individuals in the field. Building on his work, the Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship will nurture the development of future leaders by providing financial support to students seeking advanced degrees in the fields of public health or public policy who plan to devote their careers to advancing public policy related to sexual and reproductive health and rights. DAVID A. WINSTON HEALTH POLICY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 

Available to entering HPM Policy Track students, the objective of the David A. Winston Health Policy Scholarship Program is to increase the number and quality of individuals trained in healthcare policy at the state and federal level by awarding deserving health policy students financial support to further their education. THE DOLORES ZOHRAB LIEBMANN FELLOWSHIP

This fellowship is available to U.S. citizen graduate students in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (including law, business, medicine, engineering, architecture or other formal professional training). The fellowship provides full tuition and an $18,000 stipend during your second academic year, and is renewable for up to three years. Students at Mailman School are notified by the Financial Aid Office during the fall semester of your first academic year of application deadlines. 

DORIS DUKE FELLOWSHIPS FOR THE PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation invites individuals who are interested in a career in the field of child abuse and neglect prevention to apply for the fellowships. The Leadership Education & Advocacy Program awards scholarships to build leadership and promote diversity in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and allied communities. HEBREW FREE LOAN SOCIETY

HSF/PFIZER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

This scholarship program is available to Hispanic students who are United States citizens or legal permanent residents who are enrolled in a full-time graduate program. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. For an application and specific university and field of study information please visit the program website. 

INSTITUTE FOR DIVERSITY

The Institute also offers three scholarships for future healthcare leaders. The Transamerica Retirement Solutions Leaders in Healthcare Scholarship ($5,000 to 2 scholars), the Elliott C. Roberts Scholarships ($1,000 to 1 scholar) and the Cathy L. Brock Memorial Scholarship ($1,000 to 1 scholar.) JVS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Lemann SCHOLARSHIP

The Lemann Fellowship program aims to contribute to accelerating positive social change in Brazil through providing financial assistance to master’s students with a commitment to addressing crucial development challenges facing Brazil such as public health and education. The program aims to support the education of students committed to building a stronger, more effective public sector, strengthening corporate social responsibility, and contributing in other innovative ways to cultivate positive social change and economic development in Brazil. The Fellowships are made possible through the generosity of Brazilian entrepreneur Jorge Paulo Lemann and the Fundação Lemann (Lemann Foundation).

NATIONAL HISPANIC HEALTH PROFESSIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) will award 17 scholarships to graduate students in dental, medical (allopathic or osteopathic), health policy, public health, and nursing. Eleven scholars will receive a 2 year scholarship for $5,000 per year, and six scholars will receive a 1 year scholarship for $2,000. Please visit the NHHF website to access the application.

THE NEW YORK ACADEMY OF MEDICINE

PEO INTERNATIONAL PEACE SCHOLARSHIP

A philanthropic organization that provides assistance in educating women through scholarships, grants, awards, and loans.

The Recovery Village Health Care Scholarship 

A $1,000 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field).  Applicants must submit an essay no more than 500 words describing why they are passionate about health care, with a focus on substance abuse and mental health. ROOTHBERT FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

The Roothbert Fund was created in 1958 by Albert and Toni Roothbert to help men and women "motivated by spiritual values" and in need of financial aid to further their education. The principal focus of the fund is the scholarships program, through which it makes grants for undergraduate or graduate study at accredited colleges or universities in the United States.

RUTH TAYLOR SCHOLARSHIPS—WESTCHESTER COUNTY

SAMHSA MINORITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

These doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships support students from ethnic minority backgrounds who wish to improve services for people with mental health or substance abuse disorders who are also from an underserved minority population. Learn more.

SAMVID SCHOLARS

A new scholarship for future leaders and changemakers, Samvid Scholars was established in 2021 by Samvid Ventures to invest in the graduate education of ffuture leaders who are committed to effecting positive change in society.  Apply here.

second chance SCHOLARSHIP 

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to students who are accepted to or currently enrolled at an accredited university, have a 3.0 GPA or above, and submit a 500-word persuasive essay. Learn more about the scholarship here

SOPHE/CDC STUDENT FELLOWSHIP IN INJURY PREVENTION 

This one-year fellowship is designed to assist and train students in either unintentional injury or violence prevention. The fellowship is a joint initiative of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) and the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. SOUTHWEST TRIBAL NARCH STUDENT SUPPORT

Open to American Indian/Alaska Native students who are working to complete a Master in Public Health degree, with preference given to students pursuing dual degrees in medicine (MD) and public health (MPH). A stipend of $7,500 per semester is available. Students must be enrolled as full-time students, and two awards will be given per year. 

STUDENT VETERANS OF AMERICA

Student Veterans of America provides military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and following graduation.

SURVIVORS' AND DEPENDENTS' EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (DEA)

The Dependents' Educational Assistance Program provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans, including up to 45 months of education benefits.

THINK EINSTEIN HR KNOWLEDGE SCHOLARSHIP 

This $500 scholarship is awarded to students who are currently enrolled at an accredited university, have a 3.0 GPA or above, and submit a persuasive essay. Learn more about the scholarship here

St. Andrew’s Society of Washington D.C. awards several scholarships totaling more than $20,000 to Scots enrolled in U.S. graduate programs. The deadline for applications is April 30 of each year. The American Australian Association awards individual Fellowships for advanced study in the United States of up to US$30,000 each year. This is a student loan program for Peruvian students. You can apply for up to the entire cost of education. The Bank of China offers loans to Chinese nationals or residents for up to 90% of tuition and miscellaneous fees (including travelling abroad). Fundación Pedro Barrie de la Maza Scholarship

Created in 1966 by Pedro Barrié de la Maza, who was closely linked to Banco Pastor. The initial endowment was followed by subsequent donations made by his sister Gertrudis Barrié and his widow, Carmela Arias y Díaz de Rábago, Countess of Fenosa who donated all of her fortune to the Foundation in 1981. Caja Madrid, a savings bank in Spain, runs one of the leading scholarship programs in the country for Spanish citizens pursuing advanced degrees abroad. Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund

The Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund’s (HAESF) objective is to promote free enterprise and development in Hungary and to continue to strengthen ties between the United States and Hungary by creating opportunities for accomplished Hungarians and those of great promise to gain professional experience in the United States, thereby enhancing their contribution to Hungarian society. Japanese Medical Society of America

The Japanese Medical Society of America (JMSA) is dedicated to promoting the exchange of medical and educational information between the United States and Japan. JMSA looks for scholarship candidates who demonstrate academic excellence, show a strong interest in the JMSA and its goals, and propose a clear, achievable project that will benefit the JMSA and the Japanese community.

John R. Mott Scholarship

Students native to the region of Calabria who are enrolled to attend any accredited post-secondary school are encouraged to apply. Students must be seeking an education leading to a degree or professional certification. Preference is given to students from the town of Serra D’Aielo, and the city and province of Cosenza. The Foundation awards scholarships for up to $10,000 a year based on academic achievement and financial need. Consideration is also given to the candidate’s past and intended future contributions to the region. Applications should be completed online and materials sent by mail or fax. The scholarship is open to Brazilian nationals, individuals who have Brazilian heritage, or foreigners with a permanent Brazilian visa. TOEFL Scholarship Program

The TOEFL scholarship program is designed to award TOEFL test takers for achieving academic excellence, exhibiting leadership skills, performing extracurricular activities and demonstrating English-communication proficiency. Test takers applying for the scholarship must currently be living in Mainland China, India, Japan, Korea, or Taiwan at the time of application, hold a grade point average of at least 80 or higher on a 100-point scale or a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, have a valid TOEFL test score used as a requirement for admissions into your graduate program, complete the application form online and upload your transcripts.
