Dean Linda Fried Gives Harvard School of Public Health Inaugural Lecture
Dean Linda P. Fried, MD, MPH, DeLamar Professor of Public Health, presented the inaugural lecture at the Harvard School of Public Health’s new Centennial Women Leaders in Public Health series on December 16th. Established to celebrate the School’s Centennial year, the series aims to highlight the important leadership contributions of women in public health.
Dr. Fried spoke on The Science of Resilience and Frailty in Aging. A leader in the fields of epidemiology and geriatrics, Dr. Fried has dedicated her career to the science of healthy aging. She is internationally renowned for her seminal work in defining frailty as a medical condition, illuminating its causes and the potential for prevention as keys to optimizing health for older adults.
The lecture serves as a vehicle for academic enrichment at the Harvard School of Public Health, especially for the community of women students, post-doctoral fellows, researchers, and faculty. The series is sponsored by Harvard's Committee for the Advancement of Women Faculty and the Office of the Dean.
