New Yorkers for Social Justice: A Citizen's Commission Making Recommendations to Eric Adams

GHJG’s Director Terry McGovern and faculty affiliate Dr. Micaela Martinez served on New Yorkers for Social Justice, an independent Citizens’ Commission. The Commission’s report, which was formally submitted to New York City Mayor Eric Adams on February 7, 2022, lays out 81 priority actions the Mayor’s Office should take to advance social justice for the New York City residents. Topics addressed include freedom of speech; policing and the criminal justice system; reforming and closing Rikers; housing and homelessness; health; heat; climate change and environment; land use and a comprehensive planning framework; economic development; and education.
