Overview
Kent McKinney, MPH, MBA, serves as the Director of Quality with Johnson and Johnson, a global pharmaceutical manufacturer. In his current role, Professor McKinney devotes his time to establishing high-value, market-based solutions that promote better patient outcomes and more rational healthcare utilization. Previously, Professor McKinney served as the Executive Director of the Maryland Health Insurance Plan, a state governmental organization devoted to providing health insurance to uninsurable Maryland residents. In that role, he incorporated value-based insurance design concepts which facilitated better coordination of care for chronically ill plan members while lowering overall plan costs. He has over 30 years of healthcare management experience, predominately in the pharmaceutical industry where he served in various leadership positions. Kent maintains a keen understanding of state and federal government operations and healthcare financing. He started his career as a commissioned officer in the United States Army.
