Reproductive Justice and Environmental Justice Convening
In December 2021, GHJG in partnership with SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective and Women With A Vision hosted an interdisciplinary convening on reproductive justice and environmental justice in the United States. Over 40 researchers, community-based activists, and donors gathered in New Orleans to discuss the connections between the two movements and how advocates and scientists can be better aligned to improve health outcomes. The convening was organized around the devastatingly high rates of maternal mortality and preterm birth in Louisiana and Mississippi, particularly among Black and Brown birthing people. Read key takeaways from the historic convening and recommendations for ways forward.
