Student Opportunities

The GATE Program is hiring for two Graduate Assistant positions for Fall 2024: a Qualitative Research Assistant and a Communications and Social Media Assistant.

The GATE Qualitative Research Assistant position will be up to 15-20 hours per week from September 2024 through December 2024 with the possibility for extension through the spring semester. The position will pay $22 USD per hour. Interest in and enthusiasm for qualitative research, including using qualitative methods and analysis using software, strong writing skills, and interest in US and global women’s health, adolescent health, menstruation and puberty education are important for this position. This position would support the following activities: 

  • Conduct literature reviews, format publications for journal submissions, support reference management (e.g. Zotero), for relevant projects and studies related to puberty, menstrual health, and related topics in adolescent boys’, girls’ and women’s health
  • Provide general qualitative research support to a range of projects underway including transcription, coding and analysis of qualitative data
  • Support the development of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols and data collection tools for new projects under development
  • Assist with the management of GATE’s EdX course on menstrual health policy and practice.  
  • Provide general administrative support to GATE team including supporting planning and coordinating large-scale meetings and events, meeting note taking, and student outreach.

The GATE Communications & Social Media Assistant position will be 5-10 hours per week from September 2024 through December 2024, with the possibility of extension through May 2025. The position will pay $22 USD per hour. Experience using Canva, InDesign or other design software is strongly preferred. The position will support the following activities:

  • Supporting the planning, logistics and marketing (including audience growth strategies) of a global webinar series entitled the “Period Posse Presents” which brings together menstruation experts to present each month on a range of domestic and global topics.
  • Supporting communications and social media activities, including updating the website, and operating social media accounts(Twitterand LinkedIn).
  • Designing a range of communication products such as fact sheets, infographics, Twitter images, and PowerPoint templates.
  • Supporting the promotion of new GATE research, projects, and advocacy initiatives, including developing strategies for disseminating, marketing and reaching relevant audiences.
  • Providing general administrative support to GATE team including supporting the planning and coordinating of meetings and events, note taking and student outreach.
