Overview

Ari J. Markenson (MPH '98) is a partner in the Healthcare and Corporate Practices at Venable LLP in its NYC Office. He has spent his career working at the intersection of healthcare, law and business. He advises healthcare industry clients, including investors, lenders, providers, and suppliers, on a broad range of regulatory and corporate matters, and has significant experience with complex healthcare industry acquisitions and financial transactions. He regularly represents private equity firms and lenders in such transactions and evaluates and advises on compliance and regulatory issues with regard to sellers and potential borrowers from banks and financing sources. He also advises various healthcare entities on regulatory matters, including conditions for participation; fraud and abuse; and survey, certification, licensure, and enforcement issues. Mr. Markenson speaks and publishes regularly for well-known health care organizations on topics related to health care, law and business. He is an active participate in many professional organizations related to healthcare, law and business. He is a Past Chair of the New York State Bar Association - Health Law Section and still serves on its Executive Committee. He is a member of the Board of the American Health Law Association and an active participant in the association. Mr. Markenson is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Pace University, in its Department of Health Sciences of the College of Health Professions and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. He was previously an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Graduate School of Management and Technology, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences and Practice at New York Medical College, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School.
