Overview
Dr. Miller is a leader in the field of exposomics, which studies the comprehensive and cumulative effects of physical, chemical, biological, and psychosocial mediators that impact biological systems. He has helped develop high-resolution mass spectrometry methods to provide an -omic scale analysis of the human exposome. He serves on the advisory panel to the National Institutes of Health All of Us Research Program and on the National Environmental Health Sciences Advisory Council. Dr. Miller is the founding editor of the journal Exposome. He previously served as the Editor of Toxicological Sciences.
In 2024, Dr. Miller was featured on Tomorrow’s Cure: How a lifetime of exposures impact health – exposome explained, a Mayo Clinic podcast.

Global Health Activities
SAMBAI: Society, ancestry, molecular, and biological analysis of inequalities. Dr. Miller leads Work Package 2 on exposomics for this Cancer Grand Challenge project that examines cancer health disparities in the African Diaspora (UK, US, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, and South Africa).
EIRENE: European Strategy Forum for Scientific Infrastructures. Dr. Miller leads the Columbia University hub of this European Consortium designed to support the development and harmonization of exposomics.
Visiting Professor, University of Paris Descartes, France: In the Spring of 2018 I was a Visiting Professor at the University of Paris Descartes. I continue to collaborate with colleagues at the University.
EXPANSE Exposome Project, The Netherlands: Funded by the European Commission, this project is studying the effects of complex environmental exposures on human health. Dr. Miller's lab will be assisting with the exposome-level analysis.
