Profile Headshot

Overview

Dr. Jianhua Hu is a Professor of Biostatistics (in Medicine and at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center) and the Director of the Cancer Biostatistics Program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She earned her PhD in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a thesis on statistical development for microarray data analysis. She also holds an MS in Statistics from the National University of Singapore. Dr. Hu is a member of the New York Genome Center's Computational Cancer Genomics Steering Committee.

Dr. Hu leads the Cancer Biostatistics Program, where she oversees the recruitment of statistical analysts, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty while mentoring biostatistics graduate students. As the Director of the HICCC Biostatistics Core, she provides various statistical services to medical researchers, including clinical trial design, protocol development, grant applications, manuscript writing, and data analysis. Her research focuses on developing novel methodologies to address complex data analysis challenges in biomedical studies, aiming to improve disease diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. This includes work on high-dimensional genomics, proteomics, imaging, disease heterogeneity modeling, and developing adaptive designs for personalized therapies. Dr. Hu's research integrates modern machine learning and deep learning techniques to extract valuable insights from complex omics data.
