Overview

Jonathan Reese has thirty years of healthcare financial management, network development and healthplan operational experience. He is currently Vice President of Network for the New Jersey market for Aetna, a CVS Health Company. In his role Jonathan is responsible for actively negotiating the financial and unit cost terms for network hospitals, physicians and ancillary providers representing a combined reimbursement of over $8 billion dollars.

Prior to his current role, Jonathan was the network manager responsible for over 700 ancillary providers and 70 Hospitals for New Jersey’s largest health insurer – Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield. At Horizon-BCBSNJ, Jonathan was responsible for negotiating and maintaining contractual relationships, including financial terms, among statewide hospitals, physicians and ancillary providers to increase marketability of the Horizon-BCBSNJ provider network.

His healthcare experience also includes assisting and working with state and national Medicaid and Medicare as well as SCHIP Managed Care Organizations in the development of comprehensive hospital and ancillary provider networks. Jonathan has negotiated and developed physician network contracts, including reimbursement terms with hospital PHO’s, IPA’s, and other large physician group practices.

His additional experience includes the development and implementation of managed care models within an integrated delivery system, including a Medicare and Medicaid risk product and the development of a comprehensive hospital-based PPO product. Other initiatives include the contracting and implementation of value-based care models specific to pay for performance programs, Patient Center Medical Home, Accountable Care Organizations, Episodes of Care and Medicare collaboration endeavors.

Jonathan has a Masters of Public Administration (Health Care Management) from Fairleigh Dickinson University; is a member of PI Alpha Alpha for academic achievement, and holds a certificate in healthcare finance through the Healthcare Finance Management Association (HFMA). He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history from Marietta College.

In addition to his current position, Jonathan is an adjunct professor of healthcare finance and healthcare reimbursement for both graduate and undergraduates at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University and is the President of the Faculty Advisory Board. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
