Overview
Leah Hooper, MST (she/her), serves as Senior Director of Educational Initiatives in the Office of the Dean. In this role, she provides guidance on evidence-based curricular design, instructional practice, assessment, and evaluation schoolwide. Leah co-leads numerous initiatives to enhance educational experiences at CUIMC, serving on multiple advisory boards and working groups to create meaningful, equitable opportunities for learning for all students. Since 2016, she and Dr. Raygine DiAquoi have co-led the Inclusive Faculty Institute workshop series, working with instructors to build anti-racist, equitable classroom communities by recognizing and addressing microaggressions in the school culture. Her areas of interest include liberatory pedagogy, amplifying community capital through service-based partnerships, and structural interventions to eliminate threats to academic belonging for minoritized students. Leah began her teaching career in a 7th grade classroom at IS 216 in the Morrisania section of the Bronx.
