Overview

Meera Shah (she/her), Chief Medical Officer, joined Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic in May 2018 as the Associate Medical Director, Director of Gender Affirming Care, and Director of HIV Prevention Services. She was promoted in July 2019 to Chief Medical Officer. She provides clinical services as well as clinical support to the Advanced Practice Clinicians at PPHP. She launched Gender Affirming Care services, Rapid Initiation of ART, Vasectomy and CenteringPregnancy at PPHP. Outside of her role as a physician, she lends her voice and expertise to being a vocal advocate through the Physicians for Reproductive Health. She is a board member of Physicians for Reproductive Health and Whole Women's Health Alliance as well as the medical director of Whole Womans Health Petersburg in Virginia where she flys monthly to provide abortion care. Her book, "You're the Only One I've Told: The Stories Behind Abortion" was published on September 1, 2020 by Chicago Review Press. Meera has a Bachelor of Science degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and MD from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She also has a Master of Science Nutrition and Master Public Health from Columbia University. Dr. Shah serves as Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
