Required Device Configuration

  • A vendor-supported operating system is used and receives automatic updates, with up to date security patches installed, such as Windows 7 Enterprise or later and Mac OS X or later.
  • Pre-boot authentication set / EFI Password set for Apple devices.
  • The computer locks after 15 minutes of inactivity.
  • Microsoft BitLocker AES-256 with diffusers encryption enabled or equivalent.
  • File Vault version 2 enabled for Apple Devices.
  • Anti-virus, anti-spyware and monitoring programs are installed and run regular scans, with virus definitions updated at least once daily.
  • Access to the computer is password protected with a strong and unique end-user password.
  • Change passwords every 180 days.
  • A firewall is activated and configured on the computer.
  • Do not set browsers to remember passwords.
  • Data used for University purposes is backed up regularly.
  • The computer is physically protected and not shared with unauthorized persons.
