Eligibility & Citing the Grant

Eligibility

The Career MODE Program is built to train and mentor early-stage investigators, specifically postdocs or equivalent and early-career scientists. The eligibility criteria to be selected to join the annual cohort of Career MODE trainees include:

Postdocs or Equivalent Research position

  • Must have a Doctoral degree and have completed at least 2-3 years of Postdoctoral training.
    • NOTE: If your discipline, e.g. Biostatistics, has a variable or shortened research training period, please contact us to review.
  • Must be currently employed as a Postdoc or early-career research roles with the responsibility of conducting research with some supervision.
  • Must be within 1-2 years of applying for a professorial faculty position or equivalent.
  • Be a US citizen or lawfully admitted as a permanent resident.
  • Submit a completed application (see Apply section for details).

Early-Career Faculty or Equivalent Research Position

  • Must be within the first 2 years of your first faculty appointment or equivalent role.
  • Must be a US citizen or lawfully admitted as a permanent resident.
  • Submit a completed application (see Apply section for details).

If you have received any support from the grant or used and benefited from one or more of our services– remember to Cite it, Submit it, and Share it.

Cite it

Cite our R25 training grant in any relevant publications, abstracts, chapters, and/or posters:

  • “This publication was supported by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences , National Institutes of Health, through Grant Number R25GM143298. The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the NIH/NIGMS.”

Publish it

Submit your publications to PubMed Central for compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy.

Authors who cite results from Career MODE- R25 grant - supported research are required to comply with the NIH Public Access Policy which includes submission, upon acceptance for publication, an electronic version of the final, peer-reviewed manuscript. The authors final, peer-reviewed manuscript is defined as the final version accepted for journal publication and includes all modifications from the publishing peer-review process. Share your research updates with us by sending an email to: fll2112@cumc.columbia.edu.
