Learn more about public service career opportunities and internships available across New York State (NYS) agencies from the Department of Civil Service, Center for Careers in Government, including about the civil service merit system, benefits of employment, how to apply for a NYS job, and the NY HELPS Program that temporarily waives the civil service examination requirement for competitive job titles. Under NY HELPS jobseekers who meet minimum qualifications, and any other conditions of employment, may apply without taking the civil service examination typically required for most job titles.
