Diller-Quaile School of Music
Diller-Quaile School of Music offers individual and group music lessons to students of all ages, as well as ensemble and performance opportunities. Their staff of 101 employees ranges in age from 25 to 85.
The school, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, encourages lifelong participation in music, and many of their workplace practices demonstrate that this philosophy extends to the staff.
A special teacher training program in music education gives faculty graduate credit for the learning they do on site. World-renowned musicians also provide in-house master classes for faculty. There’s a peer support initiative through which teachers observe each other at work twice a year. Administrative staff receives regular training in new software applications.
Diller-Quaile also provides a robust suite of benefits for employees who work more than 20 hours a week. This includes: health benefits; a retirement program to which the school contributes two to three percent of salary, depending on tenure; half-price tuition for faculty and staff and for their spouses, children, grandchildren and life partners; creativity grants; and free yoga and Alexander Technique classes.
